Experience you can't teach
Our founders spent their careers building, engineering, and managing the Southeast's distribution grid — from inside the utility and from the contractor's seat. That combination is American Current's foundation.
Laramie Cook, PE
18 years with Alabama Power Company spanning distribution engineering, crew and engineer supervision, and division-level management as Support Manager for the Mobile Division — overseeing budgets, storm restoration planning, major engineering projects, and contractor management. Licensed Professional Engineer (Electrical) and the qualifier of record for American Current's state contractor licenses.
Brannon "BJ" King
Serial entrepreneur with more than 20 years building and operating successful companies across insurance, equipment leasing, HVAC, and construction. Brings the financial discipline, back-office infrastructure, and operational systems that let American Current's field organization focus on the work.
Earl Greer
42 years with Alabama Power Company — lineman, foreman, and Contractor Coordinator responsible for managing contract line crews across the system. Earl has sat on the utility's side of the table evaluating and managing companies exactly like this one. His relationships across Southeast utilities and cooperatives, and his institutional knowledge of how utilities actually work, can't be taught.
Caleb Alday
21 years of contractor-side line construction experience — lineman, foreman, and general foreman with major utility contractors across the Southeast. Caleb knows how to build, manage, and retain line crews, and his reputation in the trade is a magnet for the linemen who will build American Current's field organization.
Bill Clements
42 years with Alabama Power Company, rising from warehouse operations through the overhead line crew to Underground Foreman for the Mobile Division — where he directed all directional boring operations and supervised underground crews across industrial, commercial, and residential systems. A lead developer of Alabama Power's statewide overhead-to-underground conversion program, Bill also championed the company-wide adoption of ground penetrating radar, arc reflection fault location, and thermal imaging for predictive maintenance.
"We built the contractor we always wanted to hire."

Built by linemen, for linemen
American Current is growing. If you're a lineman, foreman, operator, or apprentice who wants to help build a company from the ground up — with leadership that's climbed the same poles you have — we want to hear from you.
